电脑科学（软件开发）的存在是为了要栽培出一批能高度掌握资讯工艺及通讯知识与技巧的毕业生。此科系让学生有机会学习统计与概率学、多媒体系统、资料通讯与网络、软件工程、程序编写、软件测试与品质管理、软件计划管理、安全资讯科技、应用网页设计、智能系统设计及企业家技能。除此以外，学生也将为自己装备好软件开发及特定的工程知识以满足现今工业领域的需求。其中包括分析 、合成、智慧系统的设计、维修、测试及软件的品质监管。
